Biography
Melissa L. Stuart
Art Teacher / Artist
Ms. Stuart, a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Master’s Degree in Art Education. She has been employed with the Mobile County Public School System for the last twenty-eight years. She is the Art teacher at Cranford Burns Middle School where she teaches 7th graders and sponsors an 8th grade Art Club.
From 2001-2007, Ms. Stuart won the AAEA Middle School Youth Art Award yearly. In 2008, she won the AAEA Middle School Youth Art Award of Excellence.
Ms. Stuart won the state PTA Middle School Teacher of the Year Award in 2014.
Ms. Stuart paints and draws in her spare time. She also taught at the Mobile Museum of Art in the summer. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills with young people. She loves creating unique pieces of artwork to show.
Burn's Art Club
Burn’s Art Club
Art Club is an 8th grade club sponsored by Art teacher,
Ms. Melissa Stuart.
The club meets on Friday afternoons from 2:40 P.M. -3:40P.M. in the art room. Students need to stay in the art room with the club sponsor and other students till they are dismissed to the front of the school to be picked up. Students need to be picked up no later than 4:00 P. M.
The purpose of the Art Club is to continue to offer art and art activities to our students. The club will try to do one beautification project for the school each year.
Art Club dues are $10.00 yearly. Club dues are used to purchase art supplies to be used by club members throughout the year.

Arts Extravaganza Night 2023
Arts Extravaganza Night
Arts Extravaganza Night is a culminating activity for all of our elective teachers and their students. The teachers showcase their students’ talents and works achieved in their classes throughout the year. Arts Night is an annual event, usually held on the second Tuesday in May, at Burns. The parents and
general public are invited to this evening event.
